He is a right-handed top-order batsman who bowls part-time right-arm off-spin.
Aiden Markram high school, height, career
According to Briefly, Markram attended Pretoria Boys High School before going on to Cornwall Hill College and then the University of Pretoria.
Markram’s height is 6ft 1 or 1.85m.
His talent was clear from an early age and he rose up through the age-group ranks before captaining his country to the 2014 U19 World Cup title in the UAE. He also won the Player of the Series award at the tournament.
Markram burst onto the domestic scene in South Africa later that year, making his First-class and List A debuts for Northerns in October and his T20 bow the following month.
Three years later, he made his international debut in a Test match against Bangladesh in Potchefstroom, scoring 97 in the first innings and 15 in the second.
Since then, he’s racked up 22 appearances and averages a strong if unspectacular 39.30 with the bat, having scored four centuries and seven fifties.
At this stage of his career, he looks more comfortable in the red-ball arena than in white-ball cricket.
Markram only has two 50+ scores from 26 ODIs and two T20Is, although there could be much more to come from him as he’s yet to reach his prime as a batsman.
An elegant player whose main strength is his ability to score freely through the off-side, Markram is likely to be a regular in the Proteas XI, particularly in Test cricket, for years to come.
