Jon Jones has been in the news a lot lately for all the wrong reasons and there’s more bad news for the former UFC Light Heavyweight champion.

Bones is widely regarded as the greatest fighter to ever grace the UFC. His record over the years speaks for itself, but he hasn’t been very active inside the octagon, and that has cost him the pound for pound throne.

The pound for pound rankings have been updated after UFC 266 and Jones has dropped a place. There’s a new king in town and his name is Kamaru Usman!

Kamaru Usman dethrones Jon Jones in UFC pound for pound rankings

The updated rankings on the official UFC website show that Usman is the best in the world now. Jones has dropped a place and is now in second while Alexander Volkanovski has leapfrogged Israel Adesanya to third following his successful title defence last weekend.

Francis Ngannou is currently sixth and is followed by Dustin Poirier, Jan Blachowicz, Stipe Miocic and Max Holloway. Current featherweight champion Charles Oliveira is ranked 10th, one ahead of flyweight champ Brandon Moreno.

Robert Whittaker, Peter Yan, Ciryl Gane and Justin Gaethje make up the rest of the top 15, but we expect plenty of changes to the list in the next few months.

Women’s pound for pound rankings

Amanda Nunes and Valentina Shevchenko are one and two and there’s no surprise there. Rose Namajunas is third on the list, one ahead of the woman she defeated in her last fight – Zhang Weili.

Jessica Andrade jumps up a place to fifth following her dominant win over Cynthia Calvillo in UFC 266. Joanna Jedrzejczyk, Germaine De Randamie, Holly Holm, Carla Esparza and Aspen Ladd make the rest of the top 10.

The surprise in the list is that Lauren Murphy has dropped two placed to 15th following her loss to Shevchenko at UFC 266. Julianna Pena and Yan Xiaonan have moved up a spot each as a result.
