Caleb Plant and Canelo Álvarez hosted their first press conference yesterday ahead of their super middleweight unification fight in November. Things became heated and the boxers brawled onstage. Now fans are asking, what did Caleb Plant say to Canelo?
What did Caleb Plant say to Canelo?
On Tuesday, 21 September, Caleb Plant and Canelo Álvarez met for the first time as they attended their pre-fight press conference. The boxers are set to fight in November with the winner becoming the first undisputed super middleweight champion in boxing history.
After being welcomed on to the stage, the pair were seen to exchange fighting talk as they stood face to face. Álvarez was then seen to push Plant across the stage, with Plant then taking a swing at Álvarez, which he dodged.
Fans have been wondering what Plant said to spark the on-stage brawl. According to Sport Bible, Álvarez claimed Caleb Plant had insulted his mother as he is said to have allegedly called him a motherf***er.
As quoted by the sports publication, Álvarez said: “Oh, he talked about my mum. He said ‘you motherf**ker’ so you passed the line right there, so that’s why I pushed him and then he came back with a left hook. That’s what happened.”

Caleb Plant and Canelo Álvarez’s beef continued on Twitter
Following the post, Caleb Plant has claimed he didn’t intend to bring up Álvarez’s mother as he opened up about his own mother’s passing.
Plant said: “My mother was shot and killed by the police two years ago. Why would I ever bring anyone’s mother up and, even if I didn’t give a f**k, why would I open that door up just for someone to one up me and tell me ‘didn’t your mom get shot and killed by the police dummy?'”
He added in a later tweet: “You’ll never hear me talk about someone’s mother, kids or wife. When men go off to war, they leave the women and children at home.”

When will they fight?
Canelo Álvarez, who holds the WBA (super), WBC and WBO middleweight titles and Caleb Plant, who is a IBF world champion, will go head to head on 6 November.
The fight was confirmed in August as Álvarez announced the news to his 10.5 million followers on Instagram.
At the time, he wrote: “This November 6th, we’re going to put Mexico boxing on a high. Let’s go for the belt we’re missing! This Nov, we’ll put Mexican boxing on top. Let’s go for the missing belt!”
