Tyson Fury has another win under his belt as the heavyweight boxer knocked out challenger Deontay Wilder to retain his WBC title.

The Gypsy King fought the Bronze Bomber in Las Vegas on 9 October 2021 for the third instalment of their trilogy fight. After Fury’s performance in the ring, the fight is being talked about as one of the greatest heavyweight bouts of all time.

But it’s not only the boxing that has proved a talking point but also the fashion on display. Tyson Fury donned a ‘Jesus’ trucker baseball cap prior to the fight and again for his post-match interview.

Inevitably, hordes of Fury fans rushed to the internet to see where they could get one. Let’s take a look.

Tyson Fury dons ‘Jesus’ trucker cap in Wilder match

Tyson Fury is known for his distinctive clothing style, as well as his distinctive boxing style. Often seen dressed in colourful garb, the heavyweight champ never shies from wearing outlandish outfits.

So it came as no surprise that, for his third fight against Wilder, Fury came to the ring dressed to the nines and resembling a Roman centurion crossed with an emporer!

After his win, Tyson Fury was dressed in a custom Claudio Lugli ensemble, which Fury described in an Instagram comment as “champion’s attire”.

But it wasn’t Lugli’s WBC printed suit that got boxing fans talking, but Fury’s simple Jesus trucker hat.

The red-and-white cap features the name of Jesus in the shape of a fish (a principal symbol in Christianity). The multicoloured letters sit beneath a golden crown and atop the phrase, ‘El Rey Viene’.

Fans around the world have taken to Twitter in the hopes of finding a similar-style cap. One fan tweeted: “Need that Jesus trucker hat Tyson Fury is wearing.”

Another added: “I need that Jesus hat! @Tyson_Fury send me the link please !!!”

Meaning of ‘El Rey Viene’ explored

El Rey Viene has a meaning in Spanish that is fitting for the cap and for Fury’s bout against Wilder.

It is a Spanish phrase that translates to ‘the king is coming’.

The phrase on the hat is evidently in reference to Jesus, whereas for boxing fans the king referenced here is the Gypsy King, Fury’s nickname.

So, where can you buy the hat?

Well, unfortunately for those on the hunt for the Jesus hat, it isn’t part of Tyson Fury’s official Las Vegas merchandise. This means it isn’t available to purchase on Tyson’s official merch website.

As of yet, Tyson Fury hasn’t explained whether the trucker cap was custom-made, although this seems unlikely. Although the hat he wore on fight night also featured a crown design – like the one Tyson uses for his Gypsy King logo – it isn’t the same shape.

One fan speculated the hat was bought at a gas station, although this can’t be verified.

It could be, then, that this item is just part of Tyson Fury’s personal wardrobe. Perhaps it’s time to start checking the gas stations in and around Las Vegas?
