CJ Stroud started his first career came for Ohio State against Minnesota . The youngster has big boots to fill in replacing Justin Fields, but coach Ryan Day has shown belief in the youngster. Now he’s a starter, people want to know more about CJ Stroud’s parents, ethnicity, and upbringing.

CJ Stroud’s first career start for OSU

Redshirt freshman CJ Stroud started his first career came for Ohio State against Minnesota.

The 19-year-old had featured off the bench in 2020, coming on for Justin Fields sporadically.

But with Fields now in the NFL with the Chicago Bears, OSU coach Ryan Day has chosen Stroud as his starting quarterback.

Stroud faced Minnesota, starting off sluggishly.

However, the freshman rallied in the second half, firing four second-half touchdown passes and averaging 47.2 yards per completion.

The Buckeyes scored 35 second-half points and beat Minnesota 45-31.

According to ESPN, Stroud became the first Ohio State player with three passing touchdowns of 60 yards or longer in the same game in at least the past 25 years.

His college career so far

CJ Stroud was born on 3 October, 2001 in Rancho Cucamonga, California.

Stroud attended Rancho Cucamonga High School and as a senior was the Inland Valley Daily Bulletin offensive player of the year.

He passed for 3,878 yards and 47 touchdowns.

In 2019, he was the MVP of the Elite 11.

He was the nation’s No. 2 pro-style quarterback in high school and a top 50 overall player and a five-star prospect coming into Ohio State in 2020.

He was selected to play in the 2020 All-American Bowl.

Who are CJ Stroud’s parents?

The young quarterback grew up in rough circumstances in Southern California. 

In a feature by Eleven Warriors, CJ spoke about the adversity and tribulations as a young, black man in Rancho Cucamonga, although he remained coy.

“I don’t want to go into much detail, but, like, this is growing up in southern California,” he said. 

Stroud’s parents are his mother Kimberley, who is the mom of four – Isaiah, Asmar, Ciara and the youngest, C.J.

CJ Stroud’s ethnicity, and his parents ethnicity, is unknown.

His mom Kimberley is said to have had such a positive effect on the young prospect that he wants to start a charity for single mothers when he’s a little older.

CJ attributes his dad with being the one who instilled a love of sports in him.

However, their relationship is strained as CJ’s dad was taken to prison when C.J. was still in middle school.

The Athletic writes: ‘Stroud’s father is in prison, he doesn’t come from a lot of money and he has had to overcome all of these things, mostly on his own.’

CJ told Eleven Warriors: “My life has been like a roller coaster. It’s been up and down. I’ve been through hell and back. I’ve been through so much in my life. I had to grow up early. I had to grow up really fast.”
