Oakland Athletics pitcher Chris Bassitt was removed from the pitch at the White Sox game last night after being hit in the head with a line drive. Fans have taken to social media to share their support for the baseball star as he recovers in hospital. However, fans are also sending their love to Chris Bassitt’s wife Jessica. We take a closer look at their relationship and family.

Meet the Oakland Athletics pitcher

Chris Bassitt was born on 22 February 1989 and is 32 years old.

He attended the Genoa Area High School in Ohio where he fostered his love for baseball. In his senior year he took part in the All-Suburban Lakes League in both baseball and basketball.

After finishing high school Bassitt was recruited to attended the University Of Akron, and playing at a collegiate level for the Akron Zips.

Bassitt previously played one season for the Chicago White Sox in 2014, and has since played as a pitcher for the Oakland Athletics.

Meet Chris Bassitt’s wife Jessica

Jessica Bassitt, formerly Bolton, married Chris Bassitt in 2017. They have one adorable daughter together called Landry Jayne.

She studied for a bachelors of science in family and community services at the East Carolina University. She then continued her studies in health coaching at the Institute Of Integrative Nutrition.

After working in many different jobs such as bartending, helping on a therapeutic riding ranch, and as a legal assistant, she moved towards work in the sales sector.

Bassitt is now a certified health coach, and has been running her own coaching business since July 2017.

She met her future husband Chris while they were both still in college. He was playing in the Coastal Plain League near a small North Carolina town where Jessica is from. She was visiting her roommate’s family and they went to watch the baseball game that he was playing in.

The pair hit it off straight away as Chris wrote his number on a baseball and gave it to Jessica. Talk about romantic!

Chris Bassitt sustains head injury in recent White Sox game

Oakland Athletics pitcher Chris Bassitt had to be taken off the field due to a head injury sustained during the game against the Chicago White Sox last night.

The baseball star was hit in the head by a line drive up the middle of the field. Medical teams immediately rushed to Bassitt’s side as he fell to the floor in pain.

Bassitt was rushed to hospital, but updates state that he is “conscious and aware”.
