Frank Lampard‘s maiden season in charge in the Premier League saw his Chelsea side clinch Champions League qualification and reach the final of the FA Cup. Several players have shone since the turn of the calendar year – but who are the three best Chelsea players of 2020? Chelsea fan Lane Dias gives us his three picks.

My three best Chelsea players of 2020

Chelsea have boasted a host of young players since Frank Lampard took over the management reins. They have all performed admirably last season and this. Here are my top three.

Christian Pulisic

The American thrived in his debut season in the English top flight. He managed eight attacking returns from the ten league matches he played in the second half of last season.

That consisted of four goals and four assists, while the 22-year-old also scored the opener in the FA Cup final.

Injuries have hampered the USA international’s progress this term but he has looked sharp when involved.

I predict Pulisic will overcome his injury woes in 2021 and prove himself a major part of a Chelsea team pushing for the Premier League title.

Tammy Abraham

The England international had already shown he was too good for the Championship, scoring 48 goals in 78 appearances while on loan at Aston Villa and Bristol City.

However, many harboured doubts the youngster could repeat his goalscoring feats in the English top flight.

Last term, however, Abraham shut the doubters up. He hit double figures for the first time in the top tier, having scored five goals for Swansea during his loan spell in the 2017-18 season.

Abraham scored 15 of the Blues’ 69 goals last term and provided four assists in the league. He was a massive contributing factor in why Chelsea finished so high in the table.

The future looks bright for a 23-year-old who may have wondered whether his Chelsea chance would ever come.

Mason Mount

Mason Mount has been one of Chelsea – and England’s – stand-out players since making his senior debut.

The 21-year-old developed under Lampard while on loan at Derby County in the Championship. The Portsmouth-born midfielder has seemingly gained a goalscoring ability reminiscent of his boss.

He knows how to find the net from outside the area. He makes instinctive runs behind the defence and is always on hand in and around the box. Sound like someone else we know with Blues blood in his veins?

At the time of going to press, Mount had been involved in 16 goals since the start of 2020 (Transfermarkt).
