Here is a round-up of the latest transfer news surrounding Celtic.

Earlier this week we reported on Celtic’s links to Siriki Dembele, Declan Gallagher, Thomas Robert and the possible permanent acquisition of one member of Neil Lennon’s squad.

Here’s more transfer news and gossip from the Celtic camp.

Potential signings

Ben Pearson

Celtic have entered the race to sign Preston North End midfielder Ben Pearson, according to the Daily Mail.

The Championship midfielder has a handful of potential suitors including Brentford and West Brom.

The 26-year-old’s contract at the club ends in the summer and Celtic could take up the opportunity to snatch the former Manchester United academy graduate.

If Pearson favours the opportunity to join one of Europe’s elite and play in the continental competitions next season, Celtic would certainly be the right fit.

Sidnei Tavares

The Sun believe Celtic face competition from the likes of Barcelona, Juventus and Bayern Munich for the signature of promising Leicester City midfielder Sidnei Tavares.

The Portugal youth international is yet to sign a senior contract with the side. He could leave for free in the coming months.

The report also suggests that Barcelona have a ‘gentleman’s agreement’ with the 19-year-old, making it difficult for Celtic to acquire the starlet directly from former boss Brendan Rodgers’ side.

Thomas Robert

The Daily Record believe that Celtic are monitoring Airdrie winger Thomas Robert.

The report also suggests that the Hoops face competition from their Old Firm adversaries Rangers, as well as Hearts and Hibernian for his signature.

The Frenchman is tipped to emulate the meteoric rise of Andrew Robertson, and the Bhoys have been urged to take a gamble on Robert. The Frenchman’s agent Paul Tait believes that his client’s valuation could soar drastically.

Alfie Doughty

Celtic have been handed a boost in their pursuit of Charlton Athletic winger Alfie Doughty, according to London News Online.

The winger has reportedly rejected a new contract at the club, with the east Londoners’ boss Lee Bowyer confirming the news.

Bowyer suggested discussions with the player’s agent were unsuccessful and Celtic could now try to lure the versatile left-side player.

He is out of contract in June, but Celtic face competition from Rangers and Stoke City.

Permanent signing Diego Laxalt

Celtic’s hopes of permanently signing Milan’s versatile Uruguayan international Diego Laxalt have been boosted.

That is according to Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio, who insists that Laxalt is keen to remain at the club.

It is believed that Laxalt was wanted by Saudi Arabian side Al-Hilal. However, he rejected the £52 thousand-a-week offer, in favour of remaining at the Hoops.

It is unknown whether the club will be able to secure Laxalt’s services, however.
