Newcastle were thumped 5-2 by Leeds United at Elland Road last night.

Marcelo Bielsa’s side dominated the game and eventually blew their visitors away with a late flurry of goals.

With the game in the balance, Callum Wilson went down in the box under a challenge from Liam Cooper.

No penalty was awarded and today, Wilson has posted a tweet about VAR.

It must have been a frustrating one to take for the English striker, because it did look like a foul.

But as Wilson stated in his tweet, the overall performance from Newcastle wasn’t good enough on the night.

Leeds had 25 shots last night – ten on target – and that’s not acceptable for Newcastle against any side.

It’s a real opportunity for Newcastle to bounce back at the weekend, when they host struggling Fulham.

They just cannot afford to be so open defensively, not least because Scott Parker’s side are growing in confidence with each passing game.

The Cottagers stunned Leicester recently and gave Liverpool a scare on Sunday.
