College football is back, and people have been wondering whether coaches Brian Kelly and Chip Kelly are related.
Who is Brian Kelly?
Brian Kelly is head football coach at the University of Notre Dame. He has been HC since December 2009.
The 59-year-old was a linebacker at Assumption College.

Kelly joined the Grand Valley State University staff in 1987 as a graduate assistant and defensive backs coach. He became the defensive co-ordinator and recruiting co-ordinator in 1989.
He went on to become head football coach at Grand Valley State University (1991 to 2003), Central Michigan University (2004 to 2006), and the University of Cincinnati (2006 to 2009).
His Notre Dame team recently played against FSU, and afterwards Kelly’s “execution” comment caused a stir.
Who is Chip Kelly?
Chip Kelly is head coach of the UCLA Bruins.
He was head coach of the Oregon Ducks from 2009 to 2012, leading them to four consecutive BCS bowl game appearances, including the 2011 BCS National Championship Game.
From 2013 to 2015, he was head coach for the Philadelphia Eagles. He then became head coach for the San Francisco 49ers in 2016 but only lasted a season.
He has been head football coach at UCLA since 2017 and has a 10–21 record.
