It was recently announced that WWE was releasing Bray Wyatt from his contract. The wrestler has not been seen since April, shortly after his loss to Randy Orton at Wrestlemania. Rumours suggested Bray Wyatt’s mental health was the reason he was released, but this appears to just be speculation.
WWE released Bray Wyatt
On Saturday July 31, WWE announced they were releasing Bray Wyatt from his contract.
“WWE has come to terms on the release of Bray Wyatt,” WWE wrote in a statement on its website.
“We wish him the best in all his future endeavors.”

The 34-year-old hadn’t appeared on WWE since Raw after WrestleMania 37 in April.
Wyatt lost to Randy Orton at WrestleMania the previous night.
Rumours circulate about Bray Wyatt’s mental heath being a reason for his release
After the announcement, rumours started that Wyatt had requested his own release to focus on his mental health.
Back in May, there was already speculation the wrestler was suffering from mental health issues.
“He’s going through some mental health issues right now. He wanted the time off. When he agreed to return, he got heat instantly from Vince. So, he was like ‘Well, I don’t even want to be back in’.”
However, Fightful Select (Pwmania) shared some thoughts on Wyatt. The report claims that backstage performers haven’t seen anything that worried them and Wyatt was fine.
“We had multiple talent on the WWE roster saying that they’ve seen him a handful of times and he seemed fine”, he said.

So was Wyatt released because of mental health issues?
No, it appears rumours of Wyatt’s mental health issues are unsubstantiated.
An official report corroborates this, citing another reason for Wyatt’s release.
Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer reported that Wyatt says that budget cuts were the reason for Wyatt’s release.
Meltzer added that, prior to his release, Wyatt was preparing to return to WWE shows this August.
WWE has made a number of cuts recently citing budget issues
Releasing Wyatt for financial reasons has recent precedent.
The WWE recently released stars such as Samoa Joe, The IIconics, Mickie James, Aleister Black, Ruby Riott, and Braun Strowman among others.
These cuts were also thought to be due to financial implications and the WWE wanting to reduce its outgoings to concentrate on new talent.
