West Brom’s Branislav Ivanovic has praised the job former Chelsea teammate Frank Lampard is doing in the Stamford Bridge dugout.

Speaking to the Telegraph, the Serbian said he hopes Lampard will stay with the Blues for his entire managerial career.

Although he admitted he would do a good job with the England national team.

He said Lampard is the right man for the job and has been hugely impressed by his work so far.

“Frank is the right person in the right place,” said Ivanovic. “He fully deserved to be manager, not just by his name but with his job and how he is doing.

“Everyone who knows him knew he was going to be a success. I hope he will stay at Chelsea for life maybe, but for sure he can be manager of the England national team, or other teams.

“He perfectly understands the games, the things he needs to do, to show and give belief to the group. It’s always important to have more people like him.”

Lampard is still awaiting his first trophy as a manager, but impressed last season, guiding Chelsea into fourth place with the transfer ban in place for his first summer in charge.

This season, a big-money summer splurge has raised expectations and Lampard has responded by tightening up his defence.

That shows progression from last term, and the Blues are also through in first place in their Champions League group already too.

Ivanovic knows what Lampard the player was like, and clearly sees signs of what made him successful in his management style.

The crunch period will come after Christmas, when Lampard will be under pressure to win silverware, such is the expectation at Stamford Bridge.
