In January this year, Las Vegas Raiders owner Mark Davis bought the team; it is said that by honouring Becky Hammon’s contribution to the team – before it upped sticks and moved to Vegas – he is “making it a point” to connect the Aces to its San Antonian roots.
During the halftime break in Monday’s game (Aces versus Dallas Wings; Aces won), the team honoured Hammon by raising her jersey to the rafters.
“The fact that he’s kind of digging into the history tells me the care and concern that he’s putting into it,” Hammon said, preemptively, on Sunday.
