BBC pundit Leon Osman said Fulham’s attacking gameplan centred around exposing Tottenham’s Serge Aurier last night.
Speaking on Match of the Day, Osman highlighted the Cottagers working overloads down Aurier’s side.
The approach proved successful too, despite Jose Mourinho fielding Moussa Sissoko on the right, which should in theory have offered protection to Aurier.
Spurs once again dropped points from a goal ahead to draw 1-1 with Scott Parker’s side after Harry Kane opened the scoring.
“What they did was try to isolate Aurier,” said Osman. “Antonee Robinson was a real threat with his pace.
“Aurier just kept getting sucked towards him and they used that space in behind. Robinson there completely outstrips Aurier for pace.
“Scott Parker will have spoken at half time about how effective this approach can be. Robinson makes that same run again, completely does Aurier for pace.
“When Lookman came onto the field, he ran into those spaces, dragged centre halves out. Great play.”
Fulham played a wing back system and seemed to be able to create overloads out on their left – Tottenham’s right – in both halves.
Aurier has been criticised in the past for his defensive work but he kept being left 2v1 here and there’s not loads he could have done.
Perhaps he got sucked in towards Robinson too easily but that might be nit-picking.
It was another frustrating night for Spurs and if they’d taken their chances the game would have been over.
