Arsenal ended their Europa League group stage on another high and with a 100% win record as they eased past Dundalk 4-2 last night.
While the Gunners have struggled for goals in the Premier League, they have had no such troubles in Europe. The side netted 20 goals across their six games.
The latest of those was scored by teenage wonderkid Folarin Balogun. The young forward came off the bench to notch Arsenal’s fourth following goals from Eddie Nketiah, Mohamed Elneny and Joe Willock.
Balogun continues to impress
Balogun has made four substitute appearances in Europe this season, and has certainly made his mark. Although his game time totals only one minute above one hour, the 19-year-old has scored two goals and one assist.
The youngster has played youth football for England but is also eligible to represent Nigeria and USA.
Some Arsenal fans were delighted to see the 19-year-old show his class once more.
And some of them took to Twitter to react to his eye-catching cameo:
Pushing for Premier League
Despite his sparkling performances in Europe, Balogun has yet to feature in the Premier League this season. But could that be about to change?
Arsenal’s star forwards, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette, have both struggled for form in the opening months of the campaign.
That could open the door for Balogun to stake a claim for a place in Mikel Arteta’s starting XI.
Balogun’s contract expiring soon
The US-born youngster’s contract is set to expire in the summer, which could be another reason for Arteta to draft him into the Premier League squad.
Arsenal have lost a number of high-profile players over the years after failing to negotiate new contracts.
It seems some Arsenal fans are desperate to make sure Balogun doesn’t slip away too.
