Arsenal have been linked with a move for Bournemouth attacker Ryan Fraser. His contract at the South Coast Premier League club is set to expire this summer.

According to the Daily Mail, the Gunners are confident they’re in pole position to land the 26-year-old.

The Scotland international is a rapid winger who operates on the left. His performances in the 2018/19 campaign caught the eye. He scored eight goals and supplied 15 assists across all competitions.

So far this season he’s managed only one goal and four assists in 32 games. His form has dropped considerably.

Martinelli magic

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta should scrap plans to sign Fraser, despite the fact he could be a free transfer.

The answer to Arsenal’s left flank next season is already within their ranks. It also offers the perfect opportunity for Arteta to continue promoting youth at the club.

Gabriel Martinelli’s long-term future may be at centre-forward but he’s shown he can excel cutting in from the left. He is a star in the making.

The 18-year-old Brazilian has ten goals in 26 games for the senior team this season. He has gone on to become an important part of the squad.

Saka the speed machine

Meanwhile, 18-year-old Bukayo Saka is a product of the club’s academy and is another teenager to make an impact in the past year.

The Englishman has shown his versatility by dropping in at left-back. However, the speed machine is more naturally a winger and has lightning pace.

Arteta should put his faith in the young pair and let them fight it out for the wide role. Bringing in Fraser would only halt their progress.
