Everton winger Alex Iwobi has named teammate Andre Gomes as the most complete individual at Goodison Park.

Iwobi, 24, joined the Merseyside club last summer from Premier League rivals Arsenal and he’s picked out teammate Gomes as a key player at Goodison Park.

Gomes moved to Everton on a permanent basis last summer for £22million (Sky Sports) from Barcelona, after spending the previous campaign on loan with the club too.

The 26-year-old midfielder has quickly become a fan favourite with the Toffees supporters due to his intelligence on the ball and the way he dictates player from the centre of the park.

“I would go for Andre Gomes because he’s an overall midfield player, gets up and down the pitch, very gifted technically,” Iwobi responded when asked who is the most complete player at Everton, as quoted by Soccer AM’s Youtube account.

“Just from my short time at Everton and the short time I’ve played with him I can see he is very technically gifted on the ball, he hardly loses the ball, his stats running wise are probably one of the best in the team.

“He is a very key player for us and it’s good that he’s back now [from his ankle injury].”

Gomes was schooled in possession-based football during his 78 first-team appearances for Barcelona and is now trying to make a name for himself in the Premier League.

The 29-time capped Portugal international has already overcome a terrible ankle injury during his time with Everton and the best may still be around the corner for him.

He is a central midfielder who looks like he could be pivotal for manager Carlo Ancelotti when football action resumes, as long as they can sort out their defensive situation.

Gomes is competing for a spot in the Everton midfield alongside the likes of Tom Davies, Morgan Schneiderlin, Fabian Delph and Jean-Philippe Gbamin, but looks the outstanding talent out of them.
