Kyler Murray’s agent, Erik Burkhardt, released a lengthy statement on 28 February 2022 with regards to his client’s future. Murray has reportedly not been happy with how the team has handled his situation following their loss to the Rams – the quarterback recently deleted all references to the Cards on Instagram.
Burkhardt released a statement addressing his client’s status, saying Murray “absolutely wants to be (the Cardinals’) long-term QB” and “desperately wants to win the Super Bowl”. However, he added “actions speak much louder than words in this volatile business”, putting the ball in the Cardinals’ court regarding commitment to his client.
He added: “Kyler remains hopeful the organisation chooses to commit so he can continue leading the Cardinals to further success and value for many years to come.” The statement was originally shared by Adam Schefter on Twitter:
What we know about agent Erik Burkhardt and his clients
Erik Burkhardt is an agent who works for Select Sports Group. When Kyler Murray signed with Burkhardt in 2019, it was reported one of his clients was also Arizona Cardinals head coach Kliff Kingsbury.
According to his LinkedIn bio, Erik Burkhardt is co-head of Select Sports Group and has worked at the company since January 2012.
As well as Kyler Murray, Erik Burkhardt’s clients appear to be Cleveland Browns running back Nick Chubb and Kansas City Chiefs defensive end Frank Clark. Burkhardt’s Twitter cover pic includes all three players, suggesting he represents them as their agent.
He also appears to represent Forrest Lamp, who is a free agent but was drafted by the Los Angeles Chargers in the second round of the 2017 NFL Draft. Erik recently shared a post about Lamp after he got married:

Erik Burkhardt’s personal life and other ventures
In his Twitter bio, Burkhardt has a link to ICM Partners and states he is president of football at the company. On its website, ICM states: “We represent Oscar, Emmy and Golden Globe award-winning actors, including some of the biggest and most respected stars in Hollywood. Our clients include some of the greatest character actors of their generation and the freshest faces to burst on the scene in motion pictures, television and on stage.”
Erik Burkhardt is also a husband and father, and has shared posts featuring his wife and children.
On 20 February he wrote: “Wifey is still the baddest thing walking (and the coolest, kindest, most unselfish human) even after dealing with me for 12-plus years and three kids.”
