Jacob Murphy put on a solid display against Tottenham Hotspur when getting only his ninth start of the Premier League season.
Newcastle United had to work very hard to earn a point against Jose Mourinho’s Spurs.
Both sides had about the same amount of possession, with Spurs just edging the Magpies.
However, Steve Bruce’s team had double the number of shots Tottenham had with 22 in total – but only six of them hit the target.
Joseph Willock to the rescue
Joelinton got the Magpies off to a great start when scoring after just 28 minutes to put his side 1-0 up.
However, Harry Kane quickly restored order with a quickfire double and after 34 minutes, Bruce’s side was trailing.
It wasn’t until there was just five minutes left in the match that Willock managed to slot one past Hugo Lloris to give his side a much needed point.
Newcastle have drawn four of their last six matches and are currently sat three points above 18th-place Fulham with a game in hand.
Murphy – making the most out of his minutes
Jacob Murphy’s solid performance against Spurs might have gone under the radar to most people.
But the 26-year-old played very well against the north London side and defiantly helped in winning a point for his side.
Murphy successfully completed more tackles than any other player, with the Englishman completing five in total.
The 26-year-old also completed the second-most dribbles when making runs from the full-back position – completing four.
Tanguy Ndombele was the only player to complete more dribbles than Murphy, with the Spurs star completing six in total.
The Magpies defender has only started nine matches so far this season, but with performances like this one, he should hopefully get a lot more soon.
