Trezeguet managed to put in a man of the match worthy performance despite touching the ball less than 20 times against Fulham.

Aston Villa left it very late in the game to start scoring and needed Trezeguet to come off the bench to scrape all three points.

Fulham might feel a bit unlucky to walk away with nothing, given that up until the 78th minute the London based side were leading.

Fulham also had more total shots than Villa and the possession was nearly exactly even.

Dean Smith’s side had slightly more of the ball, with 52.5% possession after 90 minutes.

Trezeguet – man of the match with less than 20 touches

Despite the winger only coming on the pitch in the 62nd minute, Trezeguet still managed to score twice and win his side all three points.

Whoscored gave the Egyptian a rating of 8.2 out of 10, which was good enough for them to name Trezeguet the man of the match.

This is even more impressive when you take into account that the 26-year-old only touched the ball 18 times against Fulham.

To put that into perspective, Matthew Cash touched the ball 78 times in total.

The two goals against Fulham were Trezeguet’s only in the league so far this season.

Trezeguet also has just one league assist to his name.

Aston Villa’s next challenge

Smith’s side takes on current Premier League champions Liverpool next time out.

The last time the two sides met it was Liverpool walking away 4-1 winners, however, in the league that’s a very different story.

The last league fixture between the two teams saw Aston Villa destroy the Reds 7-2 in a famous home victory.

So if the last two meetings are anything to go by, you can expect to see plenty of goals on Saturday.
