Who is JOK in the 2021 NFL draft?

JOK is the nickname for Notre Dame linebacker Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah.

Owusu-Koramoah grew up in Hampton, Virginia and attended Bethel High School before going on to Notre Dame.

Owusu-Koramoah was named a starter going into his junior season and recorded 80 tackles, a team-leading 13.5 tackles for loss, and 5.5 sacks with four passes broken up, two forced fumbles, and two fumble recoveries.

JOK’s college career

Owusu-Koramoah quickly grew into one of the best players on defense during his time at Notre Dame.

His combination of length, speed, range, instincts, and all-around skill make him a promising impact defender in the NFL.

The 6ft 1in, 220-pound linebacker boasts impressive physical abilities too.

He showcased his explosiveness with a 10’4″ broad and 36.5in vertical jump during Notre Dame’s Pro Day.

He also demonstrated his bend and change-of-direction ability with a 6.81 three-cone.

However, JOK didn’t run the 40-yard dash at his Pro Day due to a tight hamstring.

According to bigblueview.com his career stats over 25 games are as follows:

  • Tackles: 136
  • Tackles For a loss: 24.5
  • Sacks: 7.0
  • Forced Fumbles: 5 (4 fumble recoveries)
  • Interceptions: 1
  • Passes Defensed: 7

JOK completed his senior campaign at Notre Dame by winning the Butkus Award for the nation’s best linebacker, earning a unanimous All-American selection.

He also took home the ACC Defensive Player of the Year award.

JOK’s 2021 draft projection

Owusu-Koramoah is more of a safety-playing linebacker, but should land comfortably within the second round of the 2021 NFL draft.

JOK is one of the highest-ranked remaining players by scouts and analysts, and his rare blend of (almost) linebacker size and cornerback athleticism, make him exactly the kind of hybrid piece seen more frequently in the league today.
