JYP announces Jinni’s departure from NMIXX

The news that Jinni had left the relatively new girl group was broken by Soompi and the Korean pop culture site included JYP Entertainment’s statement.

JYP explained Jinni would be leaving both the agency and the company due to “personal circumstances” but the group would carry out all their scheduled activities as a “six-member group.”

The statement continued: “We ask that you give lots of encouragement to Jinni, who will be walking a new path, and we also ask that NSWER [NMIXX’s fans] give their warm support to the six members who will continue to grow and race towards their dreams.”

No more information about the reasons for Jinni’s departure or what her plans might entail were given.

NMIXX’s rise to fame

NMIXX only came on to the K-pop scene at the beginning of 2022 but hit the ground running and have enjoyed huge success in such a short time.

JYP initially introduced the group’s name through a short teaser video in January 2022 as well as the girls’ names and socials on its social media platforms.

Their debut single, Ad Mare, was released in February 2022 and went on to reach number 35 on Spotify’s most globally streamed K-pop songs of 2022.

Within months of their debut, the group had already performed abroad, at the KCON 2020 premiere in Chicago, and graced the stage at the 2022 MAMA Awards.
