Richie Sambora was the lead guitarist and songwriter for the rock band Bon Jovi until leaving the band in 2013. He was born on 11 July 1959 in Perth Amboy, New Jersey.
Bon Jovi started in 1983 and Sambora came in to replace original guitarist Dave Sabo shortly after. In 2018, Sambora was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame and performed alongside his former band members for the first time since leaving the band in 2013.

He said in the interview: “I realised, Ava needed me to be around at that point in time. Family had to come first, and that’s what happened.”
He has also said that the choice to leave the band was very difficult but it was needed: “I was in a dire situation with my family and I had to make a tough decision and I did and I’m sure people weren’t happy about it.”
