Ray Reyes death: Fans pay tribute to the Menudo singer

Since news of Ray Reyes’ death broke on 30 April 2021, fans around the world have paid tribute to the Puerto Rican singer.

Ray Reyes is best known as a member of popular youth group Menudo. The band had its heyday in the 1980s and ’90s, gaining fans all around the world.

Who was Ray Reyes?

Ray Reyes León was born on 13 March 1970 in New York, USA. He was 51 years old at the time of his death. Although Reyes was born in the States, he was raised in Levittown, Puerto Rico.

Reyes was best known as a member of the band Menudo. He joined in 1983 as a substitute for Xavier Serbia, but was so popular that he joined full time.

Ray Reyes was still a member of Menudo up until his death this year.

Ray Reyes: Death

On 30 April 2021, Ray Reyes died at the age of 51.

García Acosta said in a statement: “Our Ray Reyes departed from our earthly plane. In this moment of pain, the family asks for space. We request prayer for his family, friends and fans around the world.”

Acosta continued: “When we have details, we will inform you. We appreciate the respect and deference.”

Details and cause of death have yet to be disclosed, but it is known that Ray Reyes died at his home in Levittown.

He is survived by son Marcos Reyes and daughter Cecilia Reyes.

Fans from around the world have paid tribute to Ray Reyes. One fan tweeted: “Ray Reyes has always been one of my favorite Menudo guys! I can’t believe he’s gone. My heart goes out to his family and loved ones. Menudo fan’s hearts are breaking tonight. Rest in peace sweet Ray. We are going to miss you so much.”

Another added: “Dear @RayReyesLeon as you close your eyes in rest, may all your pain and troubles be lost forever. May you find paradise and a world of eternal life. May your soul Rest In Peace. We’ll miss you a lot.”
