American rapper Sergio Giavanni Kitchens, known professionally as Gunna, has been pushing his new single Pushin P since its release on 7 January – now there’s P Power to go with it. Much of his personal promo work has involved the P button emoji (🅿️), the meaning of which is quickly becoming clear.
Gunna pushes the letter P with two new singles
Gunna’s two latest singles are Pushin P and P Power. He recruited Canadian hitmaker Drake for the latter, while the former features contributions from Young Thug and Future.
But that hasn’t explained the meaning behind all his 🅿️ emoji-orientated promotion.
His Instagram bio and several posts include P button emojis: “CAPITAL 🅿️”; “🅿️ushin 🅿️…..!!!!!!”; “We PuShin 🅿️ Tonight LA !”; and so on.

Are there clues among the lyrics of Pushin P?
The single Pushin P contains the phrase numerous times. Its lyrics are also, as you might expect, often plosively alliterative. In other words, they contain lots of words beginning with the letter P.
“Okay, bought her a P, not a pill, a Porsche, three Ps, pop pourin’ Porsches.”
Some words are deliberately misspelled: “She not a lesbian, for P, she turn Pesbian”. But the lyrics of Pushin P give little indication of exactly what Gunna means by pushing the letter P, or even the 🅿️ emoji.

What is the meaning of the P button emoji in the context of Gunna’s newest single?
Genius describes P Power, featuring Drake, as an “erotic ode to the irresistible sexual power that women hold”.
P Power’s lyrics contain multiple explicit references to sexual acts and illicit substances. Overall, it’s pretty clear that, at least in the context of Gunna’s latest single, “P” stands for a vulgar slang word for a woman’s genitals.

The P button emoji Gunna has been using so enthusiastically in his social media posts presumably has a similar meaning.
This explains the coyness with which Gunna has shied away from explaining what he means by pushing the P emoji so much. It also provides a believable alternative to the more widely understood meaning of the P button emoji – “a sign used to indicate parking is available”.
