It has been announced Chicago rapper Lil Ron has died. His passing was confirmed on social media on Saturday (8 January) by a close friend and collaborator Chiraq Bandz, as well as the official NGB Instagram page with which they were both associated. Details surrounding his passing are yet to be revealed.

Who is Chicago rapper Lil Ron?
Lil Ron was a Chicago rapper who grew up in the city’s south side. He started rapping in his teens, previously noting Gucci Mane and Lil Wayne inspirations of his musical influences whilst growing up.
The rapper was up and coming in the Chicago scene and initially started releasing music around 2019. He went on to drop regular projects over the years with his collaboration with close friend Chiraq Bandz on the track Toxic, currently at over 100,000 views on YouTube.

Friendship with Chiraq Bandz explored
Some may be familiar with Lil Ron for his friendship with longtime collaborator and fellow Chicago native Chiraq Bandz.
The two grew up in the Illinois city together, with Lil Ron explaining they have known each other “since the sandbox,” (meaning since childhood) in an interview with Dirty Glove B*****d last year.
Lil Ron and Chiraq Bandz have collaborated many times over the years, with their most recent joint release Detroit Flow dropping in December. Chiraq Bandz also featured on a couple of tracks on Lil Ron’s March 2021 project Who Would’ve Thought.

Tributes pour out to Lil Ron on social media
On Saturday, both Chiraq Bandz and the official NGB page to which the friends were both associated with confirmed Lil Ron had died. Taking to his Instagram story, Chiraq Bandz shared a series of tribute posts as he wrote: “My dawg gone” and “My brother gone. I can never call him again.”
In a post to his feed, Chiraq Bandz also shared a screenshot from their last FaceTime call as he continued: “Last time imma ever talk to my brother @ron_ngb. I’m sorry I wasn’t there fa u.” The official NGB page also paid tribute, as its bio currently reads: “Long Live Lil Ron”
