Lil Keed, real name Raqhid Jevon Render, has passed away at the age of 24.
On 14 May 2022, Lil Keed’s brother confirmed the news that Keed had passed away the day before. As yet, no cause of death has been revealed.
A rising star in the rap scene, Lil Keed was known as a protégé of Young Thug’s and a member of the YSL group. We take a look back over Lil Keed’s career to date, which shows he was on track to becoming one of YSL’s most successful artists.
A look back over Lil Keed’s career
Lil Keed was born on 16 March 1998 in Atlanta, Georgia. At the age of 16, after the death of a close friend, Keed decided to pursue a career as a rapper.
Speaking to The Fader about the passing of his friend, Keed said: “He ain’t even lived no type of life and it got took away. It opened my eyes up like, I gotta do something different. Can’t go out like that.”
Atlanta is producing some of the best rappers in the game, and Keed was no different. His greatest inspiration was Young Thug, a leader on the Atlanta rap scene. In 2018, Young Thug signed Lil Keed to Young Stoner Life (YSL). At that point, Keed only had two mixtapes to his name, but showed great promise.
Under YSL, Lil Keed released two studio albums: Long Live Mexico in June 2019 and Trapped On Cleveland 3 in August 2020. Lil Keed has a follow-up mixtape yet to be released entitled Keed Talk To ‘Em 2.

Comparing Lil Keed’s net worth with other YSL members
Only four years into his career working with YSL, Lil Keed found success among his fellow rappers.
YSL founder Young Thug is among the most successful, with Celebrity Net Worth estimating his wealth at $8 million. Popular rapper Gunna has a net worth of $4 million, as per the publication. Lil Baby, who is no longer signed to the label, has a reported net worth of $5 million. These are some of YSL’s most established artists, but the label also features up-and-comers such as Yak Gotti, YTB Trench, and Unfoonk.
While Lil Keed’s net worth pales in comparison to that of Young Thug, it shows the young rapper was on a trajectory for significant success. Gunna, 28, made his first YSL release two years before Lil Keed. He has released three albums under the YSL label since February 2019.
YSL has been in the spotlight recently following a spate of arrests, as reported by Rolling Stone.
