Are Jackboy and Kodak Black related? People are wondering after Jackboy attempted to cool the pair’s online beef, explaining on Instagram that Kodak is “my brother at the end of the day”.

Who are the musicians?

Kodak is undoubtedly the more well known of the pair, scoring mainstream success with several singles, including 2018’s Zeze, which featured Travis Scott and Offset.

The 24-year-old has released three studio albums, Painting Pictures in 2017, Dying to Live (2018), followed by Bill Israel last year.

The Floridan’s debut album peaked at number three on the US Billboard 200 and included the Billboard Hot 100 top ten single Tunnel Vision.

Dying To Live peaked at number one on the Billboard 200, Bill Israel peaked at number 20 on the US Billboard 200 with 16,000 album-equivalent units.

Jackboy was born Pierre Delince in Haiti on 27 August 1997.

When he was just six years old, he and his family moved to the United States, settling in Pompano Beach, Florida, where he met Kodak Black.

In 2016, Jackboy dropped his first mixtape, Stick Up Kid, which included features from Kodak and PnB Rock.

Kodak Black and Jackboy’s beef explored

On 29 June, Kodak sent a tweet that hinted the rapper was taking an aim at Jackboy. The tweet read: “Made A ‘M’ Off Lil Jack.” He further added: “Took Long Enough But Dat Businezz Must Be Stood On.”

Kodak ended his rant by making a final statement. This time, he wrote: “These N***as Ungrateful.” Not long after this, Jackboy seemingly responded to the tweets by sharing the lyrics of Kevin Gates’ song Vouch.

He shared: “Put the folks in my business, gotta set court appointments, gotta suit up with lawyers, damn, this how we rockin’.

“They copyrighted my name and wanted one million dollars. The label laughed in my face, I had to pay out my pocket.”

Fans wonder if the rappers are related

After being tight-lipped for a long time, Jackboy finally broke his silence on Instagram Live.

He said: “Nah, that’s my brother at the end of the day. Hey, see your number, unblock me off Instagram, see your number, and I can holla at you. All that other sh*t… Everybody know like, as far as Day Ones, Jackboy a real ass n***a.

“So, I’m not gonna go in detail or explain sh*t to nobody. I don’t care. I do not care about Instagram that much.”

This comment made some people think the pair may be related. While both are children of Haitian immigrants and just a few months apart in age, they are not brothers.

However, they did meet as young children in the Golden Acres projects, a notorious public housing project in Pompano Beach, Florida.

“From the day they met, Jackboy and Kodak have been nearly inseparable. Loyalty means everything to Jackboy, who has consistently shouted out Kodak in songs, interviews, and social media, and has publicly advocated for his release from prison the many times his friend has been behind bars,” wrote the Miami News Times last year.
