Friends and colleagues have paid tribute to the young music artist, who has tragically passed away this April.
Grammy Award-winning producer Lab Ox posted about JaeRene’s death on Instagram and reminisced on their collaboration earlier this year. Lab Ox wrote: “You were such a young promising talent, and a real life angel with the voice to match. We’d talk for years in passing about getting in the studio to get some work done, and I’m glad we were finally able to make that happen right around your birthday this year, and create a song so personal to you about your little sister.”
Who is JaeRene?
Jaelyn “JaeRene” Chapman was a singer-songwriter from Houston, Texas. She was born on 22 February 2002. She was just 19 years old at the time of her death.
JaeRene has been releasing music since 2019 to her YouTube channel. Her most recent song, “Poppin’,” was released 21 February 2021. This could be the song Lab Ox made reference to in his tribute post.

Her death cause has been confirmed on her family’s GoFundMe page.
The page explained: “In the early hours of the morning on April 7, 2021, Jaelyn “JaeRene” Chapman was involved in a fatal car accident in Houston, Texas at the hands of a highly intoxicated driver.”

Despite being just 19 years old, JaeRene made an impact on her friends and fans. Since the news of her death, many have poured out tribute to the young singer-songwriter.
On JaeRene’s most recent Instagram post, from 7 April 2021, commenters paid their respects.
Fellow singer Brian Angel commented: “Fly night Queen , watch over us.” Basketball player Adrian Konfuzion Mack commented that he was “heartbroken.”
