'He got Sampha on the album': Who is Kendrick Lamar collab from Father Time?

At long last Kendrick Lamar has dropped his fifth studio album, Mr Morale & The Big Steppers.

The project features major names including Summer Walker, Ghostface Killah and Thundercat – but Lamar fans can’t stop talking about Sampha, who collaborated on track Father Time.

Kendrick Lamar drops Mr Morale & The Big Steppers

Last month Kendrick Lamar dropped the release date and title of his fifth studio album after hinting at new music for more than a year.

Now the rapper’s project Mr Morale & The Big Steppers has finally hit music-streaming platforms, featuring collaborations with the likes of Portishead’s Beth Gibbon, Baby Keem, Summer Walker and narration by spiritual teacher Eckhart Tolle.

The album is split into two discs, each consisting of nine tracks. Disc one sees songs such as United In Grief, Father Time, and Purple Hearts, whereas disc two includes Crown, Mr Morale, and Mirror.

i News reports the first line of the album sums up the entire sentiment of the project: “I hope you find some peace of mind in this lifetime.”

Mr Morale & The Big Steppers is available now on all major music-streaming platforms.

Father Time, track five of Kendrick Lamar’s Mr Morale & The Big Steppers, sees a collaboration with English singer-songwriter Sampha.

Born in south London, Sampha has made his mark on the music industry by working with huge names such as Kanye West, Solange and now Lamar.

As reported by Rated R&B, the artist worked on Alicia Keys’ 2020 album ALICIA, and serpentwithfeet’s Deacon.

Outside of his collaborative work, Sampha has dropped two solo EPs, Sundanza and Dual, which include tracks such as Beneath The Tree and Demons.

On Spotify alone, the 33-year-old has racked up 1,276,399 monthly listeners.

Fans can’t stop talking about Sampha’s feature on Kendrick Lamar album

Sampha’s feature on Kendrick Lamar’s Father Time has clearly gone down a hit with fans. Over on Twitter, listeners can’t stop talking about the track.

“We haven’t heard from Sampha since 2018 and Kendrick Lamar somehow found him and gave us a masterpiece,” one person tweeted in reference to the song.

“I want more @Sampha x @kendricklamar collab in my life please,” another wrote.

“Kendrick Lamar and Sampha really did their thing on Father Time. I think that’s my favourite song on the track so far,” someone else tweeted.
