R&B Singer Emani 22, known for her collaborations with Trippie Redd, has passed away aged 22. As news of Emani 22’s death was shared online, fans took to social media to mourn the young artist. We take a look at the singer’s life and career.

Who was Emani 22?

Emani 22, real name Emani Johnson, was a 22-year-old singer from Lancaster, California. Emani 22 was also known under her Instagram username @lonebrain where she had almost 150,000 followers.

Her passion for music started at a young age as she enjoyed expressing her thoughts and feelings through music. She told VoyageLA in 2018: “All my life, art and self-expression has been everything to me.”

She continued: “Ever since I was younger, I was always finding ways every day to share my thoughts and visions or make them tangible somehow.”

Emani 22 went on to success in 2018/19 with singles Heartbreak Hotel, Better Days and Dripomatic. She released her first album, The Colour Red, last year.

Many music fans will be familiar with Emani 22’s voice through her collaborations with Trippie Redd on his mixtape A Love Letter To You 3. She featured on the tracks Fire Starter and Emani Interlude.

What happened to Emani 22?

It was announced on social media today (Tuesday, 12 October) that R&B singer Emani 22 had died aged 22.

A statement from the artist’s family or team has yet to be released but friends and fellow artists who worked alongside Emani 22 have mourned her passing online.

The cause of death is also unknown at this time, although some have claimed the artist was the victim of a hit-and-run incident.
