Who does Cardi B sample in Bet It as Bruised soundtrack drops?

Cardi B dropped a new track called Bet It on 19 November 2021. From the soundtrack of Halle Berry’s film Bruised, it includes a prominent sample in the background, but what song is it exactly?

Halle Berry makes her directorial debut with Bruised, a film about a disgraced female MMA fighter who gets one last shot at redemption when her long-lost son enters the picture again. She also stars as protagonist Jackie Justice.

The actress has gone all-out by enlisting the help of UFC champion Valentina Shevchenko as cast, as well as some of the biggest female names in hip hop.

Cardi B acts as the soundtrack’s executive producer and announced her track, Bet It, on her Twitter.

Who does Cardi B sample in Bet It?

Bet It opens with a unfamiliar male voice singing in Spanish, crooning his heart out over a break up – definitely not what we expect from Cardi B.

Though 15 seconds in, it’s cut short when the rapper shouts her signature “Bardi!”.

The song features a sample from Spanish singer Camilo Sesto and his song Algo De Mi, which translates to Something In Me.

Released in 1972, the song catapulted him to fame: it was his first No.1 record and it dominated many Hispanic countries. Algo De Mi remained on the top spot for a whole year in most of Latin America.

The heartbreaking song talks about Sesto’s sadness over his true love leaving; he describes how his soul is dying, but wants to stay alive to know why she’s abandoning him.
