Blink-182 is coming back after almost a decade. Tom DeLonge has rejoined the group, and the trio shared exciting news of their comeback and an upcoming world tour.
Delonge formed Blink-182 with Mark Hoppus in 1992. After six years of releasing albums and the dismissal of drummer Scott Raynor, Travis Barker joined the group. Together, the three released Enema of the State, which turned multi-platinum.
Eight studio albums, two extended plays, and 24 singles later, the band announced their indefinite hiatus in 2005.
DeLonge then officially departed from the group in 2015 and was replaced by Alkaline Trio’s Matt Skiba. The 46-year-old said at the time that he wanted to “change the world for my kids and everybody else’s”.
“Always” was announced as the fourth and final single from the iconic trio back in August 2004. Now, the gang is coming back with a new single, Edging.
The return of Blink-182
On October 11, Blink-182 announced the happy news with their millions of fans. Following their split, the three went on their separate ways and focused on their individual careers. Still, they never discarded the idea of returning.
Over the past several months, Travis had been traveling around Europe, joining best pal Machine Gun Kelly for his Mainstream Sellout Tour.
After months of speculation, DeLonge, Mark Hoppus, and Travis Barker will release a comeback single this Friday, titled Edging. The group will also release a new full-length studio album.
“We’re coming. Tour’s coming. Album’s coming. Tom’s coming. Tickets on sale Monday. New song “Edging” out Friday,” the group wrote in a tweet.
Fans are ready for ‘The Rock Show’
As DeLonge once said, it was only a matter of time to see the three back together. Now that the day has finally come, it’s a big deal.
Once the news was confirmed, listeners around the world took to social media to express their excitement at seeing their three favorite musicians again, with some “ready to break the bank.”
Blink-182’s biggest tour
Additionally, the group will be going on their biggest tour to date, visiting the UK, Europe, North America, Australia, and New Zealand. For the first time in their careers, the trio will also be holding shows in Latin America.
The tour will begin in March 2023 and conclude in February 2024. With a total of 70 shows, Blink-182 will kick off in Tijuana (Mexico), and finish in Christchurch (New Zealand).
The band will also be joined by special guests: Turnstile, Rise Against, The Story So Far, and Wallows.
