Phoenix Rising, which zooms in on Evan Rachel Wood’s relationship with rock musician Marilyn Manson, had its online premiere at Sundance Film Festival on Sunday, 23 January at 7.45pm MST.

Its second screening was today (Tuesday, 25 January 2022) at 8am. The 24-hour on-demand window also began at this time, meaning Phoenix Rising is currently available to watch online. View the film’s blurb, info and credits on the Sundance website here.

But the 24-hour on-demand window will soon end, and Phoenix Rising will no longer be available to watch as part of the festival programme. So, where then?

HBO hasn’t released the exact date Phoenix Rising will become available to watch via its streaming platform – or when it will air on TV – yet.

But it is an HBO series – a two-parter. HBO Documentary Films produced it; HBO will distribute it. It will get its television premiere later this year.

It is one of 82 films in Sundance’s 2022 programme. The festival unveiled its line-up in December 2021. Many of the films showing at this year’s Sundance Film Festival were supported by the Sundance Institute itself – read about the institute here.

Who are Evan Rachel Wood and Amy Berg?

Amy Berg’s company, Disarming Films, is behind such features and docuseries as The Case Against Adnan Syed (HBO) and We Are: The Brooklynn Saints (Netflix).

She directed Phoenix Rising, which is her 12th directorial credit, according to IMDB. She has also produced numerous documentaries and miniseries, including Dogs, Black Petunia and Janis: Little Girl Blue.

Evan Rachel Wood is an American actress, model and musician. She started acting in the 1990s and has received – or been nominated for – multiple awards for her work in film and television.

Her relationship with rock musician Marilyn Manson became public in 2007. They became engaged in 2010 but separated seven months later.
