It’s been nearly 20 years since School of Rock captivated the hearts of millions with it’s great soundtrack and sticking it to the man. Storming the Battle of the Bands and becoming the coolest children in New York, where are the kids from School of Rock cast now?
The movie follows the story of Dewey Finn, a wannabe rock star who is thrown out of his band. He decides to pose as a substitute teacher at a prestigious school to get some cash. In a classroom filled with straight-A students, he decides to create the ultimate rock group to show up his former bandmates and win Battle of the Bands.
Starring Jack Black, School of Rock became a massive hit when it was released in 2003. Holding the title for the biggest musical film debut, it racked up $131.3 million in the first week of release. The lead was taken by Pitch Perfect 2, which grossed an extra $25.3 million back in 2015.
We know Jack Black and Sarah Silverman from the cast went on to bigger and better things, but what about the young kids from School of Rock now?

Where are the kids from the School of Rock cast now?
Kevin Clark (Fred)
Now, he was known as the cool drummer kid of the School of Rock cast. Kevin Clark, who interpreted Fred, stopped acting after the film and instead focused on using his outstanding drumming skills. The actor-turned-drummer was a member of the band, Robbie Gold and also Dreadwolf.
According to the Chicago Sun-Times, the professional drummer was sadly killed after getting struck by a vehicle on his way home. Kevin was riding his bike in Chicago’s North Side neighborhood, and was taken to hospital after he was injured. Tragically, despite the best efforts of medical crews, he was pronounced dead an hour later.
He was only 32.
Before the actor passed away, he had been playing various gigs in Chicago with his band. His latest project was with Jess Bess and the Intentions.
Once the news was announced last May (2021), Jack Black took to Instagram to pay a tribute to his on-screen student, calling him a “wonderful man”.
Miranda Cosgrove (Summer)
The ultimate teacher’s pet, Summer, became a band manager in the film due to her exceptional organizational skills at such a young age. After the success of the movie, Miranda became the most popular face on Nickelodeon and a huge child star.
From 2004 to 2007, Miranda became the on-screen little sister of Nickelodeon’s Drake and Josh. The actress then landed her own show as a main protagonist on the popular series, iCarly. This ran featuring co-stars Jennette McCurdy and Nathan Kress until 2012.
According to New York Post, Miranda became the highest-paid child actor in 2012, earning a whopping $180,000 per episode.
Throughout her active years, the actress has appeared on television and in films, becoming the iconic Margo in the animated flick, Despicable Me.
Most recently, the star reprised her role as iCarly Shay in the reboot of the series. Since 2019, she has hosted the CBS television show titled Mission Unstoppable with Miranda Cosgrove.

Rivkah Reyes (Katie)
The actress who interpreted the shy girl who went from cello to bass player continued to act following their role as Katie.
Rivkah is also a stand-up comic and host of the Where Are We Now podcast interviewing former child stars. Their latest acting part was on Bad Animal and Monuments. The star also competed on NBC’s Bring The Funny.
As reported by The Mirror, Rivkah shared their experience and struggles of becoming famous at a very young age, revealing they were recovering from alcoholism and addiction.
The star has not lost their love for music, as Rivkah continues to post short covers from favorite artists.
Caitlin Hale (Marta)
An actress, singer, and songwriter. Now, after being cast in School of Rock as one of the kids, the actress played Lucy’s sister in the 2007 movie Julie Taymor’s Across the Universe, starring Evan Rachel Wood, Jim Sturgess, and Joe Anderson.
From 2007 until 2020, Caitlin didn’t participate in any media projects. However, she then returned to the TV screens in the series Max & Wrigley as Sydney.
In 2021, Caitlin appeared in a crime-drama feature film titled Grimmerson Manor as Kathy.
The 31-year-old actress is currently dating her School of Rock co-star Angelo Massagli, who played a security guard named Frankie. She has been sharing her life with her thousands of Instagram followers.
Joey Gaydos Jr (Zack)
Unleashing his inner rock star, Joey continued to play the guitar after gaining popularity for his role as Zack. He hasn’t acted since he played the role of the well-behaved child who turned into a rock god.
A year after the School of Rock release, Joey released an album in 2004 and is still performing in various gigs.
Though the actor is keeping his life away from the cameras, he made headlines back in 2019 after allegedly getting caught and arrested on suspicion of stealing a guitar and other equipment.
He was later charged with two counts of grand theft and one count of shoplifting, according to Sarasota and Manatee County Sheriff’s jail records. The former actor pleaded not guilty in court over the guitars, writes The Sun.
There has been no update on whether the charges were formally dropped or if the star was convicted. As it stands, there are no public records of sentencing.
Robert Tsai (Lawrence)
Sweet Lawrence warmed the hearts of viewers with his gentle attitude and spiky hair.
Nonetheless, Robert didn’t pursue an acting career and instead used his musical talent and continued to perform.
However, rather than playing the keyboard, Robert has stuck to classical music. He has performed in live concerts and competitions, leading to becoming a total superstar.

Maryam Hassan (Tomika)
The little girl with a big voice, Tomika.
As of today, Maryam has continued to sing under her stage name, Mayhrenate. Earlier this year, the singer released her EP, titled Plush.
On her Instagram account, fans of the actress have been able to see more of her adventures. They include her musical career, from listening to various covers to releasing singles and performing at gigs.
She is also the co-owner of MAHJ, a platform created for “creators creating for creators”. With the help of makeup artist Ashley Johnson, both provide a platform for those aspiring of becoming future social media stars.
