Have you seen Dolly Parton’s Christmas On The Square yet? The movie has received mixed reviews, but it’s definitely one that will get you in the Christmas spirit! Jenna Hathaway, played by Mary Lane Haskell, is a calming character in this whirlwind movie.

Meet actress Mary Lane Haskell, who plays Jenna.

Who is Mary Lane Haskell?

Mary Lane Haskell, self-described as an “actress, blogger, and Chipotle enthusiast”, is 30 years old and lives in Los Angeles, California.

Her parents are actress Mary Donnelly-Haskell and former Vice President and Worldwide Head of Television for the William Morris agency, Sam Haskell. Her dad also produced Dolly Parton’s movies and Netflix series, Heartstrings.

Mary Lane Haskell has a background in theatre, and played Dolly Parton’s childhood teacher Miss Moody in Dolly’s NBC movies Coat Of Many Colours (2015) and later in Christmas Of Many Colours: Circle Of Love (2016).

Haskell’s other acting credits include Helen Cunningham in Dolly Parton’s Heartstrings, and a 2011 appearance in Law & Order: Special Victims Unit.

She made her acting debut at 5 years old when she played a “homeless child” in a Disney Original Movie.

She also teaches musical theatre classes at the Debbie Allen Dance Academy and drives for Lyft in Los Angeles (which she said still mortifies her grandmother).

Along with her acting career, Mary Lane Haskell is a body positivity advocate.

In an episode of the Baring It All With Call Me Adam podcast, Haskell stated she had a stroke this year just before the coronavirus pandemic.

Mary Lane Haskell in Dolly Parton’s Christmas On The Square

Mary Lane Haskell plays Jenna Hathaway in Dolly Parton’s Christmas On The Square, which came to Netflix yesterday just in time for Christmas.

Her character is described as a “sweet, calming wife” to her husband, Pastor Christian Hathaway (Josh Segarra).

But what is Christmas On The Square about? This is what the official synopsis has to say: “A rich and nasty woman, Regina Fuller, returns to her hometown after her father’s death to evict everyone and sell the land to a mall developer – right before Christmas.

“However, after listening to stories of the local townsfolk, reconnecting with an old love, and accepting the guidance of an actual angel, Regina starts to have a change of heart.

“This is the story about family, love, and how a small town’s Christmas spirit can warm even the coldest of hearts.”
