Adrian Lyne’s latest directorial effort Deep Water came out on 18 March 2022 via Hulu, after a nine-year gestation period. Who is Jade Fernandez – who plays Jen Fernandez – and what do we know about her age and career to date?
Jade Fernandez has almost the same name as her character in Deep Water
Born 9 December 1987, Jade Fernandez will turn 35 at the end of this year.
She celebrated her 32nd birthday while filming Deep Water, and wrote on Instagram that it was “really special despite being away from family and friends”.

Her character in the movie is Jen Fernandez – same last name, similar first name. She stressed in a recent Instagram post, featuring a picture of a chair labelled “Jen Fernandez”, that she is “not going through an identity crisis”.
Jade’s role in Deep Water is relatively minor, but it’s far from her first screen credit. IMDB lists 24 in total, with four yet to be released.
What else has she been in, and where is she from?
Jade was born on the Homestead, FL Air Force base, and according to her IMDB bio (which she wrote herself) developed an interest in performing at an early age.
Her father is Cuban, while her mother is Puerto Rican, Italian, French and Spanish.
Fernandez earned her Bachelor’s degree in theatre and Spanish from the University of Georgia, and has since trained as a yoga instructor, learned long- and short-form improvisational comedy, and been through Teach For America, a nonprofit that recruits college graduates to serve as teachers.
