How old was Jamie Lee Curtis in the first Halloween

Jamie Lee Curtis was 19 years old in the first Halloween movie.

It was her major acting debut and Halloween was released on 29 October 1978, just before her 20th birthday.

Jamie Lee Curtis plays the role of Laurie Strode and was actually two years older than the character she was playing. In the film, 17-year-old Laurie Strode is a high-school student in Haddonfield, Illinois, a town that will soon be taken over by crazed serial killer Michael Myers.

Jamie Lee Curtis wasn’t originally cast

The role of Laurie was originally assigned to Anne Lockhart. However, the actress was unable to commit to the role because of her busy schedule, which led Jamie Lee Curtis to be considered.

Jamie Lee Curtis is the daughter of Janet Leigh, an actor in her own right who you may recognise from her role in another chiller – Alfred Hitchcock’s Psycho.

Jamie Lee Curtis’ other roles

After the success of Halloween, Jamie Lee Curtis won many more lead roles in horror films such as The Fog, Prom Night and Terror Train.

Let’s not forget about her role in the Halloween films as she reprised her role as Laurie in Halloween II at the age of 23. Because Jamie had cut her hair short she was required to wear a wig that matched Laurie’s hairstyle in the original film.

The 1981 sequel picks up at the hospital where Laurie was admitted. Michael Myers takes down hospital staff in his quest to find and kill Laurie.

Can anybody stop him?
