‘Godwink’ and its meaning explored
The term “godwink” essentially refers to a coincidental event or experience that is perceived to be fate or destiny.
It can also be inferred as the work of divine intervention hence the use of “god” with “wink”, acting as confirmation you are either on the right track or perhaps hinting at a different path that you may not have considered.

Origins of the term explained
Rushnell himself defines “godwink” to be “a coincidence that’s not coincidence but an astonishing event from divine origin.”
The term was thought into existence by Rushnell while writing his first book as he pondered over coincidences and the events surrounding them.
On his website, he explained “godwink” came to him after weeks of being stuck and went on to add it to his book, When God Winks: How Coincidences Map the Paths of Your Life.
After using it in his 2001 book he has since released several books on the term covering a variety topics such as love and Christmas.

In recent years “godwink” has also become known for its association with Hallmark through the A Godwink Christmas movie series.
It may be no surprise to learn that Squire Rushnell, who is a former TV executive for ABC, is a writer and executive producer of the A Godwink Christmas films.
The latest instalment of the “godwink” themed films follows the story of Eric and Joy as they meet while helping out in their local community.
