Cast of Superbad now: From co-star hate to Academy Awards

15 years since its release, Superbad was a coming-of-age comedy loved by fans. From co-star hate to international fame, what are the film’s stars up to now?

Some have become a-list stars, others slightly lost in the showbiz world. But here’s your answer to the question ‘where are the cast of Superbad now?’

Jonah Hill/Seth

Starting with the most obvious, Jonah Hill! Ever since Suberbad’s release, Jonah’s career has only been on the up. His character, Seth, was based on writer Seth Rogan’s experience in High School. For many years fans have often confused the pair, maybe this is the reason why!

Though Jonah had been in films such as The 40-Year-Old Virgin before Superbad, it was this role that threw him into the limelight. Now, the actor is worth $73 million and recently starred in Don’t Look Up with Meryl Streep and Leonardo DiCaprio. He’s been nominated for Academy Awards and even turned his talents to voice acting and screenwriting. What’s for certain is that we definitely haven’t seen the last of Jonah Hill yet.

Michael Cera was already well known for his role in ‘Arrested Development’ before landing Evan in ‘Superbad’. In fact, the same year as Superbad’s release he also starred in ‘Juno’ alongside Elliot Page. Michael continued in Arrested Development until 2019 alongside many other rules.

On Broadway, he starred in ‘This Is Our Youth’ which owed him a Tony Award nomination.

Even though ‘Superbad’ was Christopher Mintz-Plasse’s first professional role, fans of the film will agree that he stole the show as McLovin.

However, he wasn’t so quick to win over co-star Jonah Hill.

‘I think he was really annoying to me at that time,’ Jonah admitted to Vanity Fair.

Seth Rogen then added: ‘Jonah immediately hated him. He was like, “That was f*cking with my rhythm. I couldn’t perform with that guy.’

Ouch! Luckily, he was cast anyway and the film definitely benefited from it. Since the film, Christopher starred in lots of comedies, including hits such as ‘Kick-Ass’ and ‘Pitch Perfect’. In the last couple of years, he had rolled in ‘Promising Young Women’ and ‘Honor Society’.

Emma Stone/ Jules

Does this one even need saying? Emma Stone has cemented her position as a household name in the last 15 years. From starring in ‘The Amazing Spider-Man’ franchise to Oscar wins for ‘La La Land’. Worth $45 million, her career is going from strength to strength. It’s hard to imagine that Superbad was her film debut.

Since Superbad, Martha has turned her interest to television roles, including voice acting. Though not as well known as her co-stars, her roles have been continuous since Superbad. You can see her in shows such as ‘Unicorn Store’, ‘What Keeps You Alive’ and ‘Family Guy’.

Before Superbad, Bill was known for his stint on ‘Saturday Night Live’ and films such as ‘Knocked Up’, however, his career has only grown since then. Recently, the comedy actor starred as grown-up Finn Wolfhard in ‘IT 2’ and Disney’s ‘Lightyear’. However, it’s his show ‘Barry’ that has received much critical claim recently, showing on HBO.
