‘You Need A Hug’ trend is inspired by adorable characters in an animated movie
The cute TikTok trend ‘You Need a Hug’ is inspired by even cuter animated characters from a 2023 movie.
You can do the new challenge with anyone, but TikTok users are warned about the potential risk factors it could involve. If you plan to hop on the trend, just be mindful of a few things and you’re good to go.

What is the ‘You Need A Hug’ trend on TikTok?
The new trend sees TikTok users hug their loved ones when they aren’t at their best, imitating a scene from the movie Migration, just as is. It looks as if they are giving or getting a piggyback ride.
While both the participants are aware of the trend and how to go about it, it involves one party jumping and hugging the person in front of them, from behind. Hence, the trend isn’t advisable for all.
The person getting hugged must be able to withstand the weight of the hugger, or else the trend will end in a disaster and in some instances, serious injuries.

It could also pose a threat to the person jumping from behind as they are prone to missing their balance and landing on the face. If you’re still eager to try it, make sure to have the right kind of padding around both of you to ensure either is safe if the landing fails.
The dialogue used in the trend is shown in Migration – an animated movie revolving around a family of birds. Little Gwen asks her brother Dax if he needs a hug as he seems low.
When Dax gently refuses the offer, his little sister jumps and hugs him, nonetheless, and adorably asks her siblings if he’s feeling better.
When he says “no”, she continues to hold on to him and says: “Then it hasn’t kicked in.”
TikTok users are imitating the scene and the dialogues precisely as the cute voice of the little birdie will tug at your heartstrings.
