Woman who went viral crying about her first 9 to 5 shift reveals shes lost her job

The TikToker who went viral for breaking down over the prospect of going to work has revealed that she has been laid off from the same job.

In recent weeks, the internet has been flooded with numerous articles about Gen Z and their unwillingness to work hard. While these have largely resulted in equally as passionate rebuttals, there are instances when you cant help but wonder if the older generation is right. Enter former college student Brielle.

The original video went viral in October

In October of 2023, Brielle took to the platform where she opened up about the prospect of entering the US workforce.

“I know I’m probably just being so dramatic and annoying, but this is my first job, like my first 9 to 5 job after college, she sobbed at the time. “I’m in person, and I’m commuting in the city, and it takes me f***ing forever to get there. There’s no way I’m gonna be able to afford living in the city right now, so that’s off the table.”

Jokes aside, its something we all experience at one point or another. The harsh reality of working for 40+ years just to afford to live is an undeniably crazy existence. But it is reality.

She continued: “If it was remote you get off at 5 and youre home and everythings fine. And I know it could be worse. I know I could be working longer, but like, I literally get off [and] it’s pitch black. How do you have friends?

“How do you have time to meet a guy? How do you have time for dating? I don’t have time for anything, and I’m so stressed out.”

You could argue that Brielle simply had the guts (or naivety) to post what we all think and have said before.

She shared an update on the 9 to 5

In December, just two months after hitting the headlines, Brielle offered another update for her TikTok followers.

She explained: “I’m not going to sit here and cry, but I got laid off of my first post-grad job and the one that took me five months to find and I moved to New York City for.”

Despite what many would assume, the TikToker said the layoff was not her fault. Instead, the undisclosed company had hired her without the necessary resources to train her up.
