Woman severely allergic to water details her excruciatingly painful shower routine

While showering is enjoyable for most of us, one TikTok user dreads the thought of coming in contact with water.

Kimberlee Mills suffers from a health condition known as aquagenic urticaria, which makes her severely allergic to water. So much so that a minute longer in the shower can put her at risk.

How woman allergic to water takes a shower

Kimberlee uses her TikTok account @everydaywithkym to increase awareness of a rare condition she was diagnosed with at the age of 12. Since then bathing has been a nightmare for her.

In a one-minute-long clip posted to her channel, she details her shower routine and it sounds extremely painful.

The process requires her to pop two allergy pills before hopping into the shower. The medication is meant to slow down the allergic reaction but doesn’t eliminate it.

Despite the usage of the pills, Kimberlee’s skin starts to tingle after about four minutes in the shower – it’s her cue to step out.

Just stepping away from the shower doesn’t reduce the allergy because water has touched the skin already and the woman says it only gets harder once she’s out with wet skin.

“This is where the real fun begins because at this point my body is itching, is burning [and] covered in hives,” the content creator shared.

She waits up to two hours for the skin to “calm down” and then, another round of application begins as she resorts to sprays and lotions to reduce the pain caused form the reaction.

“This whole process can last anywhere from an hour to two. It gives me migraines and sometimes I get fevers,” she shared at the end of her video.

Even sweating adds to the reaction

It isn’t only water that Kimberlee is allergic to. Even her own sweat can cause similar allergies.

She went bald for years so she didn’t have to wash her hair and turned to wigs. But the sweat formed on her scalp from wearing wigs only made it worse.

The TikTok user now wears glue-less wigs but gets rid of them as soon as she steps inside her car.

She has posted another video detailing her hair wash routine and it doesn’t look any less painful. She has to combine her shampoo with the conditioner and wash it off quickly before the reaction occurs.

No matter how careful and planned the process is, Kimberlee still ends up with bruises and rashes on her scalp.
