Woman recalls her first period in ‘sassy’ childhood diary that leaves TikTok in stitches

An embarrassed TikTok user revisited her very first period as she read from her 2009 diary for her followers.

Childhood diaries are objects best left in the past…unless you want to remember just how cringy you were. Suddenly you are confronted with past crushes, humiliating decades-old opinions and enough spelling mistakes to send your former English teacher reeling. But TikTok user Tegan Marlow did not get the memo, and the ensuing result was hilarious.

Her childhood diary was comedy gold

Tegan (@tegan.marlow) took to the platform after Christmas, armed with her childhood diary and the courage to read it.

In 2009, I became a woman (and wouldnt shut up about it), she captioned the now-viral post which has since accumulated over 100k likes and 900k views.

Unlike other diaries, which feature daily statements and reflections, Tegans was organised by time and seemed to have entries whenever her childhood self felt like it. The first line read: Dad found out about me starting my period. He suggested some kind of celebration, good Lord.

Just two minutes later, Tegan added that she was meeting her friends, Sophie and Zara, to tell them about her amazing period arrival.

I love Nana, but she does wear some pretty sad skirts. Oh well, people her age are supposed to wear stuff like that. Better than her trying to be youthful! she brutally wrote in another entry.

At another undisclosed time, Tegan wrote that she sat down at school to show her friends her amazing Fifi Lapin sanitary towel holder.

Other diary details were just as golden

A young Tegan didnt only write about her periods, but also general information and interactions with her friends.

On one sassy occasion, she wrote: When I was walking Dogson, this mad berk on a bike cycles up to me. I then realise it is Mr Garden Addiction from next door. Ok, maybe its his kids with the garden addiction, he does have a job after all. One Hopes.

She also noted that her friend Sophie had started kissing people on the cheek, which she argued was quite chic.

TikTok compared the diary entries to pop culture

While the hundreds of comments about Tegans diary focused on just how hilarious her younger self was, others drew comparisons to films and TV shows it reminded them of.

Why did you write like Miranda Hart’s inner monologue, one comment with 17k likes read, as another reiterated, Bridget Jones meets Angus thongs and perfect snogging meets Miranda.

Why does it give me mark from the peep show vibes, someone else wrote, to which Tegan responded, HAHAAHH omg yes this is spot on. Why was I a 14 year old girl version of Mark Corrigan.
