Woman doing ‘suggestive pulse squats’ in the gym starts viral debate

“This is why 2024 is unsafe for women”, reads the overlay text in the video posted by TikTok user Madi Ruvee on her account yourfavoritedaughter2. She recorded herself doing pulse squats in her gym, and that has sparked a huge debate online now.

Madi is an underwater photographer and boasts over 76,000 followers on her TikTok account. She has gone viral after defending herself against an accusation that her gym moves were “sexually suggestive.”

Woman argues she was doing pulse squats at the gym

Three days ago, Madi posted a viral video of herself at the gym where she was doing some “warm-up” exercises for her leg day.

She’s seen holding a ball, completely lowered into a squat position, and dipping while looking into the camera.

In the middle of the workout, she is approached by a man who is heard saying on camera that the gym is his and he didn’t want the lady to continue doing whatever she did, implying it was inappropriate.

The man asks Madi what she is doing. When she responds by saying it’s her leg-day warm-up, he responds: “No, don’t give me that b******t. I know you know what you’re doing.”

He added: “You realize that you’re actually what’s wrong with girls.”

When she laughs it off, he tells her not to come to his gym if she wants to do the same.

Soon, the video was flooded with people’s divided opinions. While some argued that the TikTok user was only practicing a stretching exercise that most of them do as well, the rest with opposing opinions criticized her move for being “sexually suggestive”.

TikTok user addresses the debate

In the following video, Madi claims people’s reactions to the stretch she had been doing for a long time were different after they learned that she’s an OF model.

She then proceeds to elaborate more on the pulse squats, blaming critics for overly “sexualizing” everything women do.

With an article talking about pulse squats in the background, Madi says the particular exercise is beneficial to achieve “stronger thigh and hip muscles” as well as strengthening the glutes.

The TikToker further said she couldn’t possibly be the only person to be doing deep squats at the gym for someone to find issues with it.

When one user said: “100% valid, you were not stretching.”, another comment in Madi’s favor read: “Even if theyre not pulse squats what gives him the right to approach her like that.”
