A British man has gone viral on TikTok after sharing the ‘wildest’ thing about America which really blows his mind.

Josh has more than 4.4 million followers and compares the crazy cultural differences between the two countries.

Wildest thing about America

In the viral video, he said the craziest thing is the fact that you can’t walk anywhere, which is very different to England.

“This is the wildest thing about America. It literally blows my mind,” he said before explaining that he just tried to book an Uber but there weren’t any available.

His destination was 1.5 miles away and the drive would have only taken four minutes, but walking is staggeringly longer.

“Do you know how long it’s gonna take me to walk along this highway right now. Go on have a guess,” he continued.

“One and a half hours. One hour and 30 minutes. Are you joking?” the guy shouted while walking along the side of the highway.

He then joked that he might have to put his thumb out and hitchhike as walking along the busy road was “terrifying”.

‘Get off the highway Josh’

In the comments, TikTok users are saying he’s crazy for walking along the highway and are telling him to stop immediately.

One person wrote: “Get off the highway, Josh. It’s dangerous, mate! We don’t do that in the US.”

“There are no sidewalks on the highway for a reason Josh,” said another.

A third person added: “No one walks on the highway in America because it’s DANGEROUS Josh.”

“Dear god pray for this man,” someone else commented.

America’s least walkable cities

A 2020 report from The Institute for Transportation and Development Policy (ITDP) found that America’s least walkable cities are:

  1. Orlando
  2. Atlanta
  3. Indianapolis
  4. San Antonio

The most walkable are New York City, Boston, San Francisco and Baltimore, but even they are far worse than other cities in the world.

US cities tend to have very low urban density, which makes walkability a challenge, and most of the country is built around car use.
