Why your WhatsApp is now green as app ditches blue theme
Many WhatsApp users opened the app this week to find that the color scheme has changed to green, and they hate the new look. All the icons, from the call symbol to delivered ticks and bottom bar are no longer their usual dark blue shade – but why?

Why your WhatsApp is now green
Your WhatsApp has turned green as the app is changing its entire theme to “bring a modern, new experience to WhatsApp” and “make it more accessible and easier to use,” the site said.
This change is slowly rolling out across profiles and everyone who uses WhatsApp will eventually receive this update, so its not something you can opt out of.
The color is changing from blue to green on all iOS devices to match their brand. Android devices already had green icons, but the shade is slightly altering.

WhatsApp has also changed how and where they use the color, using it “more intentionally” so you can “focus on the things that matter most on the screen”.
Other iOS and Android changes
As well as switching the color from blue to green, WhatsApp has also changed the appearance of some of their icons and buttons on iOS.
The shape and color will look different, and some parts of the messaging app are now more spaced out than before too.
For Android users, WhatsApp has made dark mode even darker to make text easier to read, and added more white space to light mode.
The shade of green they use has also changed to match their brand color, and icons and spacing will similarly look different.
On top of that, the WhatsApp logo will now appear in the Chats tap, and the tabs previously at the top of the screen are now at the bottom.
WhatsApp users hate new theme
The new color scheme has taken social media users by surprise and they’re not keen on the new green look at all.
Many have taken to Twitter/X to moan about it, with one person writing: “Whats this green nasty WhatsApp update?”
“My WhatsApp changed to green this morning and Im absolutely disgusted,” said another.
A third person added: “Ill eventually get used to WhatsApp being green, but it doesnt look good.”
“But whyyyy did you change it from blue to green? Whyyyyy?” someone else wrote.
Everyone will have to get used to it, because the new color is here to stay!
