Why is my Instagram feed showing old posts?
Users of Metas Instagram have been left reeling after the site seemingly began to display posts from November, leading many to like out-of-date pictures.
Social media is always bugging out on us. If its not Facebook, then its Twitter. The most recent victim is supposedly Instagram, which has left users feeling like stalkers as they interact with posts several images down someones grid.
Why are old posts being shown on Instagram?
On December 21, numerous people took to X, formally known as Twitter, to complain that Instagram was placing old posts at the top of their feeds. While you can enable chronological feed in your settings, which displays posts in time order, some are still reporting an issue.
That being said, the popular social media sites algorithm does display older posts as a way to keep you up to date. They also flag suggested posts based on previous interactions, which are sometimes from the past and not the accounts most recent uploads.
Instagrams own website states: At times, you might see a post from a few days ago in your feed. This is to make sure you don’t miss a post from someone you follow or a suggested post.
The lesson seems to be checking the date of a post before interacting. If you dont want to seem like a stalker hunting through someones grid, then double-check.
At the time of writing, Instagram has yet to report any major ongoing issues. It is worth bearing in mind that the minor glitch could be patched in no time.
