Why did TikTok delete my drafts?
TikTok users have swarmed Twitter/X recently complaining that they have lost their drafts on the video platform. Many are asking why TikTok deleted their drafts and how they can avoid losing their videos in the future.
Creating videos on TikTok is as easy as peeling an onion (and with less tears). However, this also means that users end up stocking a pile of videos that never make it to their feed. These videos get accumulated in your TikTok drafts. Sometimes people create videos and park them aside as drafts for future use. However, many TikTok users have recently lost their drafts. The annoyed TikTokers are wondering why their drafts got deleted.
Why did Tiktok delete my drafts?
The reason your TikTok drafts have disappeared is that, unlike posted videos, your drafts are not saved on TikToks servers.
They get saved on your device. Hence if you have uninstalled and then reinstalled the app, the app data will be cleared in that case. Hence your drafts too will be deleted.
Another reason you are unable to find your drafts could be that you are using your TikTok account from another device. Your drafts stay on the device you have used to create them. If you choose to change your device in the future, your TikTok drafts won’t be transferred to the new one. However, there’s a way you can work around this.
How to avoid losing your drafts
If you don’t want to lose your TikTok drafts every time you uninstall the app or switch to a new device, there’s a simple trick that can help you with that.
You can save all your drafts to your camera roll. To do the aforementioned, simply open your TikTok drafts folder and select the video you want to download. Select “Next,” and select “Only Me” under the options for “Who can watch this video.”
Then tap on “More options” and toggle the “Save to device” then tap “Post.” Now the video will be posted on your TikTok account but only be visible to you. The video will also be downloaded to your camera roll. Hence this is a trick you can do before uninstalling the app.
