The acronym ‘STTM’ has gone viral on TikTok this week thanks to one video and people are confused about what it means.

‘STTM’ video goes viral

The viral video was shared by a TikTok user called Nate who wrote: “If I say ‘STTM’ and you actually do, you weird ash.”

It’s had more than 1.3 million views and prompted a lot of confusion in the comments, with one person writing: “What does ‘STTM’ mean?”

“I feel so guilty not knowing what ‘STTM’ means,” said another while a third person added: “Ya’ll what is ‘STTM’?”

Someone else said “People be abbreviating way too much” – but it’s actually a well-known slang term that’s been around for years.

What does ‘STTM’ mean on TikTok?

‘STTM’ means ‘Stop Talking To Me’. It’s used in text conversations when someone wants the recipient to stop messaging.

The abbreviation can be said in a jokey way or literally when you want someone to shut up, and it’s used across social media too.

One person wrote on Twitter/X this week: “I love ppl who can sense when to sttm. I hate when ppl wont leave me alone.”

“Its such a coincidence people always sttm or break up with me bc I’m crazy like sorry,” another person wrote.
